Ms. Hartzell advocates on a range of issues before the NC General Assembly and before Congress, with a focus on climate change, energy, and transportation policy.

Prior to joining Environment North Carolina, she worked with the Connecticut Public Interest Research Group to protect the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and to stop a liquefied natural gas facility in Long Island Sound.

A graduate of the Environment America fellowship program, Ms. Hartzell began her career working with Environment Colorado building grassroots support to bring more renewable energy to Colorado as well as working with the Western Clean Energy Campaign in Boulder, CO
